As a non management member of staff currently working at Tyneside cinema this article reeks of absolute bullshit. I'm not sure which current members of staff you've talked to but I think they are outliers in this organisation and certainly don't represent the majority. Things have been tough financially but the new CEO has been amazing at bringing the team together and working hard to stop the previous culture of too many staff spending their days not pulling their weight and being completely overstaffed (especially on the cinema side of things) - I met a former employee outside of the cinema the other week and who said "I miss the working at the Tyneside when you got to sit around and do nothing all day" which possibly gives you a picture of the previous version of the cinema which was struggling financially to stay open.
Things are on the up here and it's a real shame former and current employees have felt the need to slander the organisation - especially as it potentially negatively impacts those of us who are working here and incredibly happy with the cinema and the direction it is heading. We are all trying hard to pull together so this cinema can be a thriving part of the north east arts scene and it's going to take a big effort and lots of graft from staff to get this going and articles like this aren't going to help us achieve that aim.
